Unlocking ROI in Frontline HR Systems

Unpacking our research to find the true ROI in frontline systems...

ROI Challenges in HR Systems

We've conducted hundreds of hours of market research this year, with many HR and IT executives, but also broadened to operations and finance to get multiple perspectives on what is considered "good ROI" on a new IT or HR system being launched.

We've received various responses, but one thing became clear: It is tough to measure the return on investment on a new system unless it has a hard attachment to the bottom line.

One of our favourite responses to the question 'How do you get to 100% ROI on a new system roll-out?' was:
"The reality is that 60% is almost as good as 100% when it comes to these large projects"

And when we looked at the data and anecdotal information collected in our research, the reality backs this statement.

For instance, while rostering might reach the 80% ongoing usage target, other systems like Comms, HRIS, Learning and Development, and EAP are substantially underperforming in terms of both usage and ROI.

We had one executive respond that after spending months and tens of thousands of dollars on a new EAP, the employee response was extremely poor and once the initial fanfare subsided - the system was all but abandoned.

So how do you solve this?

Mumba Front Door seeks to address this challenge by simplifying the employee experience and driving up usage across all systems. Based on data from our existing customers, Mumba increases average usage by 35% across all core and non-core HR and IT systems.

For example:

  • Comms: A potential 30% - 45% increase
  • HRIS: A 25% - 55% boost in usage
  • Learning and Development: 25% - 45% growth
  • EAP: A remarkable 30% - 60% enhancement

The Impact on ROI

By improving usage, Mumba aims to push the overall ROI across the entire IT ecosystem. This enhancement could result in achieving at least 85% of the budgeted ROI, exceeding the initial targets for each system.

The model appears promising, as it offers a straightforward approach to increasing ROI by addressing usage challenges, which we've identified as a common issue.

The underlying concept is based on streamlining the user experience and making systems more accessible to employees. However, it's important to consider that the model's effectiveness will likely vary depending on specific factors within each organisation, such as the nature of the deskless workforce, the current state of technology adoption, and the overall readiness for change.

What's the next step?

In essence, the results prove that Mumba Front Door can have a significant impact on ROI by optimizing the usage of various systems - by seamlessly connecting people on the frontline with all IT systems.

How can Mumba Front Door help?

Since 2016, Mumba has been committed to assisting a specific market. Deskless workers constitute 80% of the global workforce, but technological advancements in employee tools, systems, and engagement have predominantly benefited office workers.

Our goal is to improve the lives of our nurses, carers, store workers, cleaners, builders, makers, and all the individuals who play a vital role in keeping our world functioning smoothly. We strive to make work easier and life better for these essential workers.
